Garden gates that drag or will not latch
We assess ordinary timber gates for loose hinges, worn latches and small hardware repairs. Describe whether the gate drags on the ground, catches a post or will not stay closed.
Have photos of the gate, hinges, latch and supports ready. If a post is leaning or the supporting timber has failed, a simple hardware adjustment may not fix it. Structural fence or post work is outside this service.
Replacing a few damaged fence palings
We repair small numbers of ordinary timber palings where the rails and posts are sound. Tell us how many are damaged and whether you already have matching timber.
Access to both sides and permission for a shared boundary may be needed. New fences, large replacements, retaining walls and changes to the boundary are excluded.
Which gates are excluded?
Pool gates, pool fences, powered gates and security systems are not ordinary garden-gate repairs. We do not alter those systems or their safety mechanisms.
Keep a pool barrier secure and use the appropriate specialist if it fails. Identify any automated or safety-critical gate in your request so it is not booked as a minor latch repair.
What changes the cost?
Gate condition, replacement hardware, paling count and access affect the price. Include the type of latch or hinges and any parts you already have.
The quote covers the agreed minor repairs. A leaning fence or failed support needs separate assessment rather than extra work being assumed.

Our service covers minor, non-structural work. Residential building jobs are limited to $5,000 in total, including labour, materials and GST. Electrical, plumbing, gas and other specialist trades are outside this service. The limit applies to the whole job; work cannot be split into smaller invoices to avoid licensing. NSW licensing rules.

Can a dragging garden gate be adjusted?
Sometimes. Loose hinges or hardware may be repairable, but a leaning post or failing structure needs different work. Describe the problem and have photos of the supports ready.

Can you fix a pool gate latch?
No. Pool barriers and their safety mechanisms are excluded. Use an appropriate specialist and keep the barrier secure.
How much will the job cost?
The quote depends on the items, condition, parts and access. We agree the work and price before starting. The cost guide gives third-party benchmarks; those are not our rates.

Yes. List each job and the number of items in one request, including any parts supplied. The full job must stay within our minor repair service and NSW licensing limits.
